It is common knowledge among those who study the game that the best range for farming seems to be within the 1100 - 1300 trophy range. And one of the best tactics to exploit that is using the BAM Tactic. You can take in huge amounts of resources fast so you can upgrade your base fast.
So while that is a fantastic method, it does limit you to remaining at that level. The only issue with that, is it limits the recruiting you can do for your clan. Like it or not, you are judged first on the league badge you wear. Even if you are a level 77, Town Hall 8 that means business, you are generally not taken seriously as a recruiter.
I had thought previously it was IMPOSSIBLE to farm above 1300. Thankfully I have proven myself wrong, I call this the FAT Tactic ((F)arming (A)bove (T)hirteen). This is what you have to know:
- Strength. You need a strong Town Hall level 8 (TH8) base. A strong TH7 may do, but I was never able to do it.
- Troop mix. BAM will no longer work, or becomes very ineffective. A troop mix that does work is barbarians, archers, goblins, giants, and wall breakers (28,56,20,16,8 respectively).
- Target selection. By now you ought to know not to pick a fight with someone much tougher than you. This doesn't mean you cannot, just that they should be a "rushed" town hall and weak.
Strength. This information is not going to do a TH6 much good, you simply will not be able to hold on to the resources at this level. Your gold and elixir will be gobbled up greedily by much stronger players.
Even as a TH8, I was having difficulty keeping resources above 1300 until I upgraded my base to a minimal level, and found a good defensive layout. This is what my base currently looks like:
Troop mix. It took me a few attacks to get used to the troop mix and to learn to deploy it effectively. Having a level 5 Barbarian King (BK) is very handy. The BK rages all the barbarians around him, and even if it is only for 10 seconds, it is very handy! As far as spells, I keep 2 healing and 1 rage spell cooking. Rarely do I ever have all three though. Having a good clan to support your clan castle helps too (thanks Syes Matters!).
Target selection. This, like using the troop mix just takes practice. Pick TH7s with 100k each resources to practice with. I regularly pull in 200k+ gold and elixir now during each raid. And when I find a target with huge amounts of dark elixir, I am able to penetrate to the center and eat their lunch (get their dark elixir).
The only issue with the tactic is that it now takes 20 minutes to build an army, and it costs more elixir (but less dark elixir). So where I could fight 4 times in an hour, now I can only battle 3 times. But that is a minor tradeoff to farm above 1300.
This is a video of FAT in action:
That is all for now.
Clash on!
